Simple Decorating For Your Guest Room

If company were to come calling today, would your guest room be ready to receive them? Find out how to decorate this important room in your home in a simple, fashionable way. It will be ready and waiting for all of your guests to visit in comfort and style.

The spare room is usually called out for duty when your guests need a place to sleep over night. It’s important that you have clean and quality linens on hand for those occasions. Store three to four sets of comfortable towels in a neutral color in the closet. Also, you’ll need two sets of well made sheets sets and two soft, warm bedding quilts. The bed will need four firm pillows. All of the linens should be in a neutral pattern and color.

Make sure the room is stocked with these important elements as well. For nighttime reading, an easily operated lamp should be on the bedside table. A digital alarm clock is essential, as is setting it to the correct time for your guests. Set up a full length mirror for simple dressing and have open space for clothing storage, such as a dresser and plenty of hangers in the closet.

The style of furniture should be solid and understated. Natural wood furniture is an excellent choice. Purchase a set including two nightstands and a bed as large as the room can handle. Sleigh beds are a good bet for an attractive style that isn’t too bold. Stay away from bright colors, brass or gold accents and anything that will date the furniture.

Stick with subtle art or landscape photos on the walls. Decide on a theme for the room if you like, such as a favorite sport, vacation spot or simply a color scheme. Large prints work well on wide walls and smaller pictures can be arranged together for an attractive look. Window coverings need to be room darkening for your guests, but also should be made to pull out of the way for plenty of natural light.

Extra bedding can simply be folded and placed on the Sleigh bed. Put the extra pillows in the closet and keep the top of the furniture free from clutter. In the closet, neatly arrange your own storage in bins or boxes for a tidy, organized look.

Now your guest room is ready for worry-free use. The company will rave about the comfort and care you provided with these simple decorating tips.
